About Police Direct
Police Direct™ enables personalised communication with the public through text and picture messaging, email, the web and other new technologies
It's free for the public, businesses and other organisations to join Police Direct, and they can choose how to receive the alerts - by email, SMS text or recorded telephone message, or any combination of these. Receiving messages is also FREE.
The challenge is for a force to ensure a duty of care to the public in relation to call handling and appropriate responses. It is also important to ensure that information is gathered, transmitted, protected and stored to stringent standards with regard to security and for evidential use.
Police Direct™ is a collaboration between HTK Limited, Cable & Wireless and the UK Police Service, pioneered by Suffolk Constabulary. It is available to all police forces for simple procurement through the PNN3 Framework.
It is delivered as a highly secure, hosted service that is cost effective, fast to deploy and easy to maintain.
